Mandau

In the past if there was war, ethnic Dayaks in general using their trademark weapons,”Mandau”.”Mandau” is an heirloom that generations used by the Dayak tribes and regarded as a sacred object. Besides being used at the time of the battle Mandau is also commonly used by the Dayak tribes to accompany them in performing their daily activities, such as slashing or cutting meat, herbs, or other objects that need to be cut.

Usually the layman will often confusion between “Mandau” and “Ambang”. Lay people or people who are not accustomed to seeing or even holding the saber will be difficult to distinguish between “Mandau” with  “Ambang” because when viewed in plain view is both about the same. However, both are very different. But if we look in more detail later on it will show a very significant difference, ie there are carvings on the Mandau or the encrusted gold, copper, or silver and Mandau more powerful and flexible, because the saber made of mountain stone containing iron and processed by an expert. Orlapei Dance

This dance is a dance welcoming the guests of honor at festivities State/village in Central Maluku. Generally describe the mood of joy from the whole of society to the arrival of the guest of honor at the State/village, and became the phrase Welcome Dance.

Tambourine or drum is one of the many types of musical instruments that exist in the Bible that is used to praise God and played when we praise and worship God.

Tambourine round in shape and has a membrane in one side, the membrane could be an animal skin or plasticshiny-called hologram. Rencong

Called weapons of the people of Aceh, in addition to guns and firearms, the most famous is Rencong. In fact, one of Aceh’s land title is also known as the “Land of  Rencong.”

Rencong or reuncong some are called, are traditional weapons of the people of Aceh. Aceh has the form of Rencong like letter [L] or more precisely like calligraphy mention the name. Rencong included in the category of dagger or knife .

Historically, rencong have levels. First, rencong used by the king or sultan. Rencong is usually made of ivory (sheath) and pure gold (the dagger). Second, the sheath rencong rencong-usual made of buffalo horn or wood, while the dagger of brass or white metal. Flute

Musical instruments have been created since the old times by early humans. Any musical instrument can be made from anything, ranging from wood, iron, brass, copper, stone and even the bones of a dead animal.

Like a flute or some kind of flute found in an old cave in Germany.

The flute is made from bird bones weaverbird and estimated by the archaeologist is the world’s oldest musical instrument.

Bone flute was about 40,000 years old and was discovered by the archaeologist from the University of Tuebingen in the Hohle Fels, a stone cave in southern Germany. (more…)

Kecapi

Traditional musical instrument zither is an instrument of classical music that always colors some of the arts in this Sunda land. Make a Kecapi is not easy. Dani Tribe In The Island Of Papua

Stretching between highlanders indentations Jayawijaya, Baliem Valley has long been the venue for the largest annual cultural festival in the land of Papua. In this valley, the Dani people live in harmony and united in the embrace of mountains which surrouded Papua beautiful and charming nature. Aside from being a ‘home’, often Baliem Valley becomes the arena of war by the warring tribes and became the arena of massacre those who fight for the triumph of tribal pride.

Baliem Valley itself a new existence to surface in the 1930s with the reports that there is a group of primitive tribes living in the valley. Approximately 10 years later, the valley is isolated from foreign influence is increasingly recognized by the outside world,after the National Geographic magazine put this valley on the world map published in the magazine.

Already long ago, the war became something that was integral in the life of the Dani people and other tribes in Papua. For them, war has some deep meaning. Tolaki Tribe In The Island Of Celebes

Tolaki tribes believe that the offspring derived from an angel who descended directly from heaven. Originally seven fairies came down from heaven and bathe in a pool of the Earth (Tesahano Melangge). Then one angel named Oheo lurk those who were in the shower and found the clothes of the eldest brother of the goddess go.

Eldest daughter could not fly because of the clothes that she had been taken by Oheo and eventually he abandoned by his brothers on Earth. Oheo emerged with the appearance of an innocent approach Eldest daughter who was crying. He was married by Oheo with a request that the requirement to have children one day when he can not wash his while him urinate.

They both were blessed with a boy and when children from their waste water Oheo told his wife to the eldest daughter to clean up with his own hands. Terms has broken, and finally the eldest daughter cried until I find the clothes that so far, had been hidden by the Oheo. Eldest daughter had to fly to the sky.
